Story: Don’t just say, show your support.  The most painful impact of mental illness is often to feel and be alienated from those most important to you.  Too many people with mental illness tragically live in isolation.  This isolation can be extremely debilitating and increase suicide risk.  Many lives are at risk. Those closest to the person with mental illness - friends and family - are in the best position to notice if their loved one is becoming isolated.  With this insight, they should reach out and save the friend from their isolation. The most powerful thing friends and family can do is look past the illness, look to the person they knew and loved before mental illness struck. We remain the same.  Please support suicide awareness and prevention. Please be a true friend.

If someone you know is having thoughts of suicide, please tell them to call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255 (TALK), text HOME to 741741, the Crisis Text Line or go to Speaking of Suicide for a list of additional resources.
